Agromillora’s technical team travels to Florida to advance the development of new citrus rootstocks
Agromillora’s technical team—Ely Chernilo, Mariángela Mestre, and Ramon Botet—recently visited Florida to meet with breeders Dr. Jude Grosser and Dr. Fred Gmitter from the Citrus Research and Education Center in Lake Alfred, FL, who are responsible for leading some of the world’s most important citrus breeding programs. During the visit, the team had the opportunity to learn first-hand about the new materials, their characteristics, and their field performance.
The visit is part of the activities carried out under the joint project with IFAPA, which includes identifying and importing new rootstocks from international breeding programs, introducing them in vitro, and later evaluating them under controlled and field conditions.
In addition, the meetings addressed key aspects related to research and import licenses, which are essential for incorporating these materials into the evaluation process and moving toward future commercial registration in Europe.
This activity is part of project CPP2022‑009916, funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and by the European Union–NextGenerationEU/PRTR.
