Brazilian Citrus Innovation Takes Center Stage at Major Industry Events
Agromillora’s Carlos Bornin spotlights market outlook and biodegradable seedling packaging at the “Citrus of the Future” Project in Bahia and the 7th Sustainable Citriculture Seminar in São Paulo
In May, Technical & Commercial Representative Carlos Bornin represented Agromillora Produção as a speaker at two high-profile events: the Citrus of the Future Project in Bahia and the 7th Seminar on New Technologies for Sustainable Citriculture. In his talks he covered essential topics for the sector, highlighting the current landscape and future prospects of the citrus market while promoting biodegradable citrus-seedling containers—an innovation for Brazilian citriculture.

The Citrus of the Future Project was held in Vitória da Conquista, Bahia, drawing more than 400 participants eager to deepen their knowledge of Brazil’s citrus market and cultivation practices. In a dynamic setting packed with lectures and activities, Carlos Bornin delivered his presentation, “Current Citrus Market Outlook and Perspectives,” offering valuable insights to the audience.
Today, Brazilian citriculture spans more than 400,000 hectares, generates roughly 200,000 direct and indirect jobs, moves R$ 14 billion annually, and accounts for 56 percent of global orange-juice production. Brazil remains the world’s largest orange producer, yet faces significant challenges to maintaining this leadership, including high production costs, labor shortages, and the advance of greening disease. Bornin’s session provided a broad array of data and information, enabling nurseries, growers, and other stakeholders to track industry trends and prepare for the coming years.
Meanwhile, the 7th Seminar on New Technologies for Sustainable Citriculture, held at the Coopercitrus-Credicitrus Foundation in Bebedouro, São Paulo, gathered more than 100 participants for learning and exchange. With multiple lectures and round-table discussions, the event created opportunities to explore sustainable innovations in citriculture. Agromillora used the occasion to highlight the benefits of biodegradable containers in citrus-seedling production—an innovative solution that reduces waste, simplifies transport and planting, and fosters excellent root-system development. It represents a significant step forward for environmental stewardship and the future of agriculture.
