Agromillora Meets with Spain’s Minister of Agriculture, Luis Planas, to Discuss Advances in Gene Editing and Plant Breeding
Yesterday, we met with Spain’s Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas.
During the meeting, our President, Carles Sumarroca, and our CEO, Jordi Mateu, shared the projects we are developing in the fields of gene editing and plant breeding. Special emphasis was placed on our citrus programs and the development of new olive varieties.
We also presented the progress of our research programs in woody crops, along with the initiatives we are leading to develop new olive varieties through gene-editing technologies. In addition, we discussed opportunities for collaboration with Spanish public research institutions to jointly advance innovation in the agricultural sector.
During the meeting, the Minister highlighted the strategic role of biotechnology innovation in strengthening the competitiveness and sustainability of the agri-food sector, particularly in crops of major importance to Spain, such as olives, citrus, and fruit trees.
At Agromillora, we are a Spanish-founded multinational company headquartered in Barcelona, specializing in the propagation of woody plant species, including olive, almond, grapevine, citrus, and other fruit trees.
